Services  ·  Psychiatric evaluation

Your psychiatric evaluation.

A psychiatric evaluation is an in-depth conversation that helps a psychiatrist understand your history, your symptoms, and your goals, so you reach an accurate diagnosis and a clear plan. With Dr. McDade, this first visit is unhurried and runs 60 to 90 minutes. It happens by secure video across Texas and California, for ages 12 to 70.

Why it matters

The right plan starts here.

Good care depends on an accurate diagnosis. The wrong label leads to the wrong plan, and lost time. Dr. McDade takes the time to understand the whole picture, so your care is built on solid ground from the first visit.

“The right plan starts with the right diagnosis. That is worth taking the time to get correct.”

What to expect

What happens in your first visit.

  1. You share your story

In your own words, without being rushed. There is room to say what brought you here.

  2. A careful history

Dr. McDade asks about your health, your background, and what you are hoping for.

  3. An accurate diagnosis

Together you arrive at a clear understanding of what is going on.

  4. A plan you agree with

You leave with next steps you understand, and a say in every one of them.

What you leave with

Clarity, and a path forward.

By the end of your evaluation, you have an accurate diagnosis, a plan built around your goals, and a clear sense of what comes next. No guesswork, and no rush.

Sometimes the best plan includes a referral to another kind of care. If that is right for you, Dr. McDade will say so honestly. Her goal is your full recovery, wherever that leads. Meet Dr. McDade.
